djeggnog invited me to start a new thread about the blood doctrine, which i am happy to do here.
his objection was my statement,.
"i've seen the blood video, a deceiving mix of scripture, fearmongering and pseudoscience, with plenty of lab coats in view.
I think it was cofty . . .
Think about it this way. Could an Israelite bring blood to the altar that he had collected from his herd without [killing] any beasts, or was it necessary for the animal to be killed before the blood had any sacrificial value?
An Israelite couldn't bring any dead animal to God's altar to be sacrificed, since what sacrifice is it when the thing to be killed is already dead? In fact, he could, but if the Israelite ever brought a lame, blind or sick animal to God's altar, he would certainly be called upon his doing so (Malachi 1:8), so where did you get the idea that a dead animal or its blood would have sacrificial value of any kind?
DJeggnog . . . perhaps you were still giddy from the realisation that you are so superior in intellect to everyone here . . . but if you read the above question again, you will see that you missed the point entirely . . . and failed to answer the question.
Unfortunately for you, embodied in this question is the identification of the basic flaw in the doctrines you espouse . . . thus deserving your open-minded and thoughtful consideration
Owing to the high level of intellect and thinking ability you possess . . . I will leave you to work it out for yourself. If you have a folder named "humility" in that high performance hard drive of yours . . . then I encourage you to open it soon.
As for me . . . I will pray earnestly for the speedy arrival of your "eureka" moment.

That's a fine letter Josephus . . . comprehensive but not exhaustive. Personally I hate the term "dissociation" . . . you have no need to 'dissociate' from anybody . . . nor does your resignation mean you are separated from God and Christ (apostate) . . . you may consider making that clear?
Writing such a letter is a good thing to do . . . the more they hear what you are saying the better . . . regardless of what they might think.
I would endorse the suggestion to cc to any local congregations you have associated with depending on your personal circumstances.
Do keep us posted . . . all the best.

hey i'm wondering if anyone can give some good advice on how to step down in the safest way.. i have served as an ms for a number of years, but can't do it anymore.
i know too much i want to fade in the future when i get some family things straightened out.
i can't move right now so that's out unfortunately.. what should i tell the body?
Pretty much the only "approved" reasons for stepping down are your own health issues or your family's health issues.
From my own experience the "stress" "depression" card is a good one to play . . . and we all feel that to some degree at times so it's not a deception unless grossly overplayed. I was soon left alone . . . almost immediately in fact.

hell and damnation my friends .
we've just had our arses kicked by one hell of an aftershock!
shook the shit out of my house .
Thanks for the link BS . . . very interesting stuff . . . ground acceleration @ 2.2 g's . . . unbelievable! . . . no wonder it sat me on my arse and lifted the wheels of my van off the ground . . .
I've heard a couple of gr. acc. reports from tokyo instruments, the highest being 0.23 g's (so far) . . . making CHCH's almost 10x that.
Interesting point on chatham rise's extinct subduction zone being at right angles to Alpine fault . . . Geology knowledge re; NZ has progressed since I was at U of W . . . I find it all totally fascinating . . . except for the "flavour" of these quakes . . . too much spice

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I felt the question posed by this thread was a "moral" one . . . one that requires a universal principal that has some semblance of justice for those who suffer innocently . . .
To simply say "God doesn't have to answer to anyone" . . . and "This is what the Bible says on the matter" (to that effect) . . . simply avoids the question . . . it's by no means an answer . . . sounds more like an "excuse"
It certainly answers nothing for me

Christchurch, New Zealand, Satanus . . . I'm sure you've heard the reports . . . your P William was down here the other day (seems a nice young man) If you like your info on-line . . . http://www.geonet.org.nz/ . . . makes an interesting browse.
Or . . . if you like the idea of an animated sequence in time lapse with interactive tools . . . http://www.christchurchquakemap.co.nz/
You can have some fun with this one . . .

you positively will not die.
for god knows that in the very day of your eating from it your eyes are bound to be opened and you are bound to be like god, knowing good and bad.".
did satan actually lie to eve?
Allowing for the allegory and remaining within the biblical context . . . JC himself labelled him "a liar when he began and the father of the lie" . . . Is that just his opinion, or could he know something we don't?

"i always appreciate your encouragement..."...if we band of brothers, who spent most of our lives being controled by an unloving cult, don't encourge one another, who will?
i do my best to live by "thelaw of the good samaritain".
you don't step around a body lying in a ditch.
Headispinning . . . TotallyADD . . . many others . . . I went through the depression/anxiety thing too . . . without the kind CO . . . it's what precipitated my exit.
Took 6-7 years to get it manageable (and hell came with me) . . . had no time for WT . . . WT had no time for me.
The good samaritan parable is simply brilliant IMO. So much of what Christ taught is embodied in that single lesson. . . cuts through all religious/social/racial prejudices with amazing simplicity and clarity . . . only for WTBTS to carefully put the prejudices right back again! . . . staggering.
I take seriously "this band of brothers" too . . . the shared JW experience has been intense . . . so too the bonds here. I really value this place.
